Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking
Real-time News, Breaking Updates • Editorial Guidelines of PixNews
At PixNews, editorial independence and unyielding accuracy are our core commitments. We believe that credible journalism is the bedrock of an informed democratic society. This document details our verification protocols, fact-checking mechanisms, and correction policies.
1. Multi-Tier Fact Checking Methodology
Before any developing story, investigative report, or political breaking update is published on PixNews, our journalists follow a rigorous verification workflow:
- Primary Source Verification: We prioritize official gazettes, press briefings, verified government documentation, court filings, and on-record spokesperson statements over third-party claims.
- Corroboration: Developing stories without official releases require corroboration from at least two independent credible sources before dissemination.
- Digital Forensic Verification: Images, videos, and social media clips are examined using reverse image search and metadata analysis to combat deepfakes and recycled media.
2. Distinction Between News and Opinion
We strictly demarcate factual news reports from editorial commentary, columns, and analytical opinions. News reporting is objective, balanced, and free from personal bias. Opinion pieces and authored columns reflect the individual views of the author and are explicitly labeled as such.
3. Transparent Correction & Retraction Policy
When errors occur, our newsroom moves swiftly and transparently to correct them. We do not quietly overwrite or delete flawed reporting without accountability:
- Typographical / Minor Fixes: Minor spelling corrections are amended directly.
- Substantive Factual Corrections: If an article contains a factual inaccuracy, the error is corrected promptly, and a prominent Correction Notice is appended at the top or bottom of the article detailing what was changed and when.
- Retractions: In the rare event that a story fails our foundational verification standards, it is retracted with a full editorial explanation to our readers.
4. Protection of Confidential Sources
While we always encourage on-the-record transparency, we recognize that whistleblowers and vulnerable sources may require anonymity to report misconduct or corruption safely. Confidentiality is granted only when the information is of critical public importance and when the source’s safety could otherwise be jeopardized.
5. Conflict of Interest & Commercial Independence
Our editorial desk maintains a strict firewall between journalistic output and commercial advertising. Advertisers, commercial sponsors, and political interests hold zero influence over editorial choices, article topics, or investigative conclusions.
